Two Freshmen Members of 115th Congress Are CPAs

Two CPAs who had not previously served in Congress took their seats at the beginning of January when the 115th Congress convened. 他们是代表. 布莱恩•菲茨帕特里克, a 代表ublican from the 8th District of Pennsylvania, and 代表. 汤姆Suozzi, a Democrat from the 3rd District of 纽约.

代表. 菲茨帕特里克 is a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania. He worked as a CPA before transitioning to a legal career, notably as special assistant to the United States Attorney. 代表. 菲茨帕特里克 then worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he served as the National Director of the FBI’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement programs.
Congressman 菲茨帕特里克 has been selected to sit on the House Committee on Homeland Security, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on Small Business.

代表. Suozzi is a former licensed CPA in the State of 纽约 who worked as an auditor for Arthur Anderson & Company before attending law school. He then worked as an Associate at Shearman & 英镑. 代表. Suozzi began his political career in 1994 when he was elected as Mayor of Glen Cove, 纽约, where he served for eight years. He then was elected to serve another eight years as the County Executive in Nassau County, 纽约.
Congressman Suozzi has been appointed to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
There are now 10 CPAs in the House and two accountants in the Senate.
